VIRTUAL HIGH SCHOOL
Our district is pleased to offer online courses to our sophomores and juniors through The VHS Collaborative (VHS) for the 2016-2017 and the 2017-2018 school year. The VHS Collaborative is a collaborative of hundreds of high schools from across the country and around the world. It offers our students a way to experience learning in an entirely new way, completely via the Internet.
VHS allows students an opportunity to pursue an area of particular interest. Students may only choose courses that are not currently available in our schools.
Although exciting and innovative, VHS is not for everyone. A student should consider taking a VHS class only if he or she is an extremely self-motivated, self-disciplined learner who is a proficient user of technology. Before students apply, they need to make sure that they fully understand what is involved in taking an online course through Virtual High School. For further information, please visit the Guidance website.
Signatures from the student and from a parent/guardian will verify that both understand and agree to abide by our district procedures regarding VHS. A completed application must include these signatures and be submitted to the Guidance Office. Please be aware that a limited number of seats are available.
Please visit the VHS website for a list of courses. Not all courses may be offered to PVRHSD students, that determination will be made during the application process. AP courses are full-year, most other courses are semester courses. Students taking AP courses are required by VHS to take the AP exam for their selection.
APPLICATION FOR VIRTUAL HIGH SCHOOL
Students interested in taking a VHS online class should complete the Online Application. The completed application should be printed, signed by the student and a parent or guardian and submitted to their guidance counselor.
